Floor Technician

Floor Technicians are skilled members of JSD's facility-services teams who focus on the appearance, protection and maintenance of hard floors and carpeted surfaces. The position combines technical training with hands-on operation of commercial floor-care equipment. It is well suited to individuals who enjoy specialized work, equipment operation and seeing measurable results from their craftsmanship.
What You'll Do
- Operate approved commercial floor-care equipment, including automatic and ride-on scrubbers, buffers, burnishers, extractors and wet vacuums.
- Strip, scrub, finish, seal, wax, burnish and maintain hard-surface flooring as required by the facility.
- Perform carpet spotting, extraction and other scheduled carpet-care procedures.
- Evaluate work areas and select appropriate pads, brushes, chemicals and procedures for the floor type.
- Set up work zones and use required caution signage and access controls to protect building occupants.
- Inspect equipment before use, perform routine operator care and promptly report damage or mechanical issues.
- Maintain floor-care tools, machines and materials in a clean, safe and organized condition.
- Support periodic projects, restorative cleaning and other custodial activities as operational needs require.
